Steven Tyler Celebrates with Boston Common
The rock icon rolls into our cover party in true rebel style.
October 10, 2011
Anyone would draw attention arriving at a party on an acid-green, three-wheeled motorcycle, but when Steve Tyler arrived in said fashion—complete with police escort—he created quite a stir. The native New Englander turned King of Rock, American Idol judge and author returned to the city on June 29 to help fête his current cover for Boston Common magazine. Walking a leopard print runway, he was greeted to his Welcome Back to Town party by Niche CEO Jason Binn, Publisher Glen Kelley and Editor in Chief Janice O’Leary. Tyler’s daughter Chelsea, his son Taj, longtime girlfriend Erin Brady and assorted friends and fans were on hand. Guests enjoyed cocktails by Grey Goose as well as passed hors d’oeuvres.
The entertainment for the Bing-sponsored evening included the premiere of Tyler’s new music video, performances by two of Boston University’s male a cappella troupes and live music from the James Montgomery Blues Band. Aerosmith’s front man joined Montgomery on stage at the end of the evening for a surprise harmonica and vocal duet performance for guests such as Wyc and Corinne Grousbeck and John Henry with wife Linda Pizzuti Henry.
