The Peabody Essex Museum held its annual fundraising gala on November 3. Nearly 350 guests wearing “creative black tie” attended the sold-out event, whose theme, “Fashion Forward,” was inspired by honorary gala chair and legendary fashion icon Iris Apfel. A group of fashion students from Massachusetts College of Art and Design added flair to the evening by modeling works from their boundary-pushing Wearable Art 2012 installation. Proceeds from the live auction, which included a vintage fur coat from Apfel’s personal collection and a curator-led trip to Frieze Art Fair, support the museum’s educational programs and special exhibitions.
