As New England's late fall weather continues to light up the landscape, our social calendar is filled with many A-list events around the city. we kicked off the season with Roche Bobois, and celebrated “French Art de Vivre” with fashion by Neiman Marcus and wines by Gerard Bertrand. We cohosted a reception showcasing urban living and local cuisine with Woodmeister Master Builders at their hip, cutting-edge location in the south end, and toasted the Boston design center on its 30th anniversary.
Now, I’m looking forward to attending the UnMask Cancer Gala at the Mandarin Oriental and the Ultimate Tailgate Party, which benefits Lovin’ Spoonfuls—this year, star chef Jamie Bissonnette will receive the Thomas M. Menino Award for Leadership. speaking of leadership, this issue celebrates Boston’s forefront men, and tracks the who, what, when, and where of their inspirations, achievements, passions, and lives. From the very beginning, he won fans all across the city, from little league players to top business leaders. You just can’t help it! everyone loves Big papi… And not just for his many on-field records and achievements—ortiz really has a way of connecting with people, and his passion for this city is infectious. So, on the eve of his retirement from professional baseball, a shout-out to one of Boston’s true heroes: David, from all of us at Boston Common and the city at large, thank you for all the unforgettable moments that will stay with us for a lifetime.
