Before the June opening of her new Centre Street location, Caan operated out of her historic Georgian home in Chestnut Hill. She feels the move gives her the opportunity to really showcase her personal style and unique interpretation of current decorating trends. This year she’s seeing a resurgence of color, Lucite, and “organic luxe,” or natural elements stepped up a notch. Despite an awareness of what’s trending, she aspires for a more enduring impact. “I hope my designs are timeless,” she says, “because they are a little eclectic and hard to pinpoint.”

Her aesthetic acumen gets high marks among Boston intellectuals, such as Harvard faculty empty nesters relocating to downtown digs, or financial gurus and entrepreneurs residing in Back Bay, South End, Chestnut Hill, Wellesley and Weston. With three kids of her own—ages 4, 11 and 16—Caan not only understands how to be pragmatic with design choices, but she also grasps the notion that not all will have the time for custom coddling. As a result, she developed Design to Go so she can decorate your space remotely, providing you with swatches, a shopping list and instructions for your contractor so you can create the décor of your dreams at your own pace. Hopefully, you dream in color. Liz Caan Interiors, 1066 Centre St., Newton, 617-244-0424; lizcaan.com
