| Harbor Room overlooking Wychmere Harbor |
Soft sand, warm waves and resort-style amenities aren’t far away this summer. Get your bocce game in shape as Wychmere Beach Club heats up with the unveiling of new premium perks. Over the next year, new ownership under the management of Longwood Events will complete a multimillion-dollar renovation at Wychmere, adding facilities and features to make the private resort full-service.
Grab a Bay Breeze cocktail at the pool bar overlooking the beach, watch your dinner sizzle on the grill in the adjacent new outdoor performance kitchen or curl up by the oversize fireplace near the Jacuzzi. Members won’t have to go far at the end of the night—just book a stay in one of the 18 luxurious new rooms at the Beach Club. The recently renovated Ocean Room, one of three indoor event spaces, has a distinct Ralph Lauren feel to it, courtesy of custom carpeting, cathedral ceilings and walls of windows offering sweeping views of Nantucket Sound and Wychmere Harbor. The new reception site near the water, slated for completion in spring 2012, will be the only spot on Cape Cod where you can hold a wedding right on the beach. In addition to being the perfect place for volleyball and the site of a tiki bar, Wychmere’s beach grows by seven feet every year as waves deposit more sand on shore.
When you aren’t celebrating (as if that ever really stops during the summer), dip your toes into two pools, one for children and another for adults. Sunbathers lounging poolside and in private cabanas will be offered frozen fruit and magazines by attendants and can enjoy live music on weekends.
When you hit your sunbathing quota, head out for kayaking, grab a paddleboard or slip into crisp whites and swing a croquet mallet. Memberships will include access to outdoor programming for the whole family, including beach yoga, a boot camp on the sand and a jazz series for kids. The younger set can even enjoy Thursday night dive-in movies at the pool. Members can book old-fashioned clambakes on the beach or dine for lunch and dinner at the resort’s new restaurant, Coastal, with its focus on fresh and indigenous products. Whether you fill your day with spa services available on-site or head out on the water, the new Wychmere is natural beauty, refined.
