| Let The Games Begin
FIVE YEARS have passed since we published our first issue of
Boston Common, with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler on the cover.
Today we’re still rocking, and we have our loyal readers and
partners to thank for that.
If success is measured in the company you keep, then we’ve
had another very successful summer. Evelyn Lauder, Brooks
Brothers and the folks behind The Breast Cancer Research
Foundation once again created a memorable Hot Pink Party
at the Four Seasons. Beautiful weather and record attendance
made the Nantucket Wine Festival one of the best yet. We celebrated
our May/June Home issue with a party at the W Boston
Residences (thanks, Kevin Ahearn); enjoyed wonderful food
by Todd English at our Nantucket Lawn Party at the spectacular
Summer House; and experienced Newport’s hospitality when
we hosted a party at the elegant Belle Mer. Grey Goose was generous
with the cocktails all around. We couldn’t ask for a better
way to roll into fall.
But before we do, there’s one more event to close out the
summer: Myopia Hunt Club will hold the Putnam Boston
Jumper Classic September 10–12. The weekend is sure to bring
out the area’s most fabulous and fashionable equestrian fans.
Many of you have probably already discovered the new
Diane von Furstenberg store on Newbury Street. To kick off
the fashion season, we hear directly from von Furstenberg herself,
and party-planning guru Bryan Rafanelli, one of Boston’s
most stylish guys, tells us his tricks for always looking his best.
Corinne Grousbeck offers an insider’s view on new stores;
and we showcase the latest lines from Saks Fifth Avenue,
Neiman Marcus, Giuseppe Zanotti Design and some of our
favorite jewelers, with Boston’s beautiful public gardens as the
backdrop.
Enjoy the lingering days of summer, and we’ll see you on
Newbury Street, at Gillette Stadium and at Boston Fashion
Week (September 24–October 1), where local and national
designers will take the stage.
