After a few long months of shoving our hair underneath hats and caps and between ear muffs, it’s time to let your shiny strands do the talking. We spoke with 6 local hair experts on what fun trends they are seeing this spring, from rose gold bobs to Gisele Bundchen’s “bronde” hair color.
“Mid length waves are in between a bob and long hair. The length sits right at the collar-bone that helps frame the face and opens up the neckline. Style with a flat iron or sleep with wet braids...tousle to give a looser and lived-in appearance. Use a dry texture spray like Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray or Bumble & Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish.”
"This spring, I love what I've been calling the 'grown out (or grown up) lob.' It's the perfect time of year, to opt for a nice blunt or choppy line that falls below the collar bone. An easy way to switch it up from just a middle part, is to add a long fringe that hits just below the brows and follows the brow line. We've been seeing this on celebs like Felicity Jones, Chloe Moretz, and Mandy Moore."
“A hair color trend that we’re going to be seeing this spring is called “bronde,” which is a cross between golden brown and blonde. It’s the color of Gisele Bundchen’s hair – depending on the light in a room or a photograph, she could look like she’s a blonde or a brunette. The dimensional color is achieved with the balayage hair coloring technique. The base shade is a light brown tone and a warm blonde hue is painted by hand throughout the hair strands and around the face to add lightness. This is a very flattering color trend for almost all skin tones since it’s so warm and very natural-looking - it’s a great shade to segue from spring to summer too. Once spring is over, a little more blonde can be added.”
"The rose gold trend is soft and subtle, sweet and fun. The haircut is classic graduated bob with a textured finish and bold fringe."
“I’m finding much inspiration from Euro fashion icons of the 70’s & 80’s-Bianca Jagger, Debbie Harry, and Stevie Nicks. I love the boldness of the choppy bobs, lived in waves, and middle partings. Color plays a big role in each look whether subtle dimension or bold lightning all to create the low maintenance of lived in color. If you want to make a bold statement this spring/summer do it with your hair!”
“Mix traditional braids into a fishtail braid then accessorize with colored Bobby pins.”
