You have the dress (or dresses, in some cases), the venue is booked, and you’re looking at honeymoon destinations. But what about your wedding day hair? We spoke with five tress experts on summer’s biggest bridal trends, from beachy waves to elaborate braids that will keep hair off your face on your Big Day.
"The summer heat and humidity can wreak havoc on wedding hair. One way to ensure your hair looks amazing throughout the day, into the evening and for every Instagramed picture is to do an across-the-head braid. This gorgeous braid begins in the front and wraps around the head to the back and finishes off with a messy chignon. The look highlights the texture and color of hair."

The Trend: Curtain Braids
“This is called the ‘curtain’ braid because of the way it wraps across the hair and is tucked underneath to look like a curtain tie-back. It’s a little something extra for a bride who wants to wear her hair super sleek and straight on her wedding day and it also suits any bride that has a little edginess to her. It’s great for a summer wedding because one side of the bride’s hair is pulled away from her face into a tight braid, which keeps messy strands at bay and helps to show off one side of the face for when she’s standing up at the alter and posing for photos.”
"Nothing looks better with a pretty bridesmaid dress than a gorgeous 'do, and there's no place more fun to bring your bridesmaids than to a Drybar the morning of your big day. My two favorite styles are the Cosmo, which is our curliest look and will therefore hold up the best during a day of ceremonies and a night of dancing, and of course, our Uptini, our version of an up-do, which we can customize just for you and your bridesmaids."
“For brides who are looking for a low key hairstyle that’s not too ‘bridal,’ I recommend a beachy wave look. For a long lasting beachy wave look, I use volumista by Oribe on the roots to give the hair some height and volume, spray it with soft lacquer on each section to protect the hair and to keep the wave in place after using a 1 ½” wand all over. Simply gather pieces of hair and pin for a half up half down look. Add a flower similar to your bouquet or keep it simple. Either way, this is a perfect style for a summer wedding on Cape or islands.”
“For summer 2016, bridal trends have been leaning more towards a more casual romantic style with loose braids and curling iron waves. The softer details in up dos this year allow for a more relaxed look allowing the bride to have a romantic style throughout the day. Having a sensual detailed style allows a strand to become loose from dancing the day/night away and allowing the style to still be present. More brides have been adding a freshly picked floral accessory to accentuate a more bohemian or relaxed romantic look over a veil and I'm honestly loving it.”
