Whether you’re pledging allegiance to a New Year’s fitness resolution or have long been a wellness junkie, these new workout classes will keep you on your toes and working up a sweat so intense, Boston will feel tropical.
Prepare to sweat this January as Equinox launches Pure Strength, a ground-breaking class tailored to utilizing weight lifting with natural body resistance. Pull-ups, planks, deadlifts, and arm presses (tired yet?) are only some of the exercises that keep members challenged. The 45-minute class improves strength by focusing on the body’s natural movement patterns to improve movement quality. The class is divided into three phases, each phase meant to utilize full muscle capability while preventing injury. 225 Franklin St., 617-426-2140; 131 Dartmouth St., 617-578-8918
Boston-area basked Reebok is partnering with Handstand on the “hands” movement as part of the sportswear brands “be More Human” platform. Simple put, the two brands are offering people a free workout just for shaking anyone’s hand in Boston. The initiative will take place between January 17-20, with thousands of Reebok trainers available through the Handstand app for a one-on-one training session.
HOT R/DE, an endurance building bike class, is one of the sweatiest rides to participate in this January. The 45-minute class allows riders to push their body to the fullest extent. The 84-degree classroom ensures, like hot yoga, that riders will rid toxins from their bodies and burn fat at the same time. Personal water bottles are mandatory, while T-shirts are optional. 101 Federal St., 617-951-9900
Indo Row, also known as “the PERFECT calorie burn,” is being offered at Btone Fitness. The goal of Indo Row is to give a transformative total-body workout, challenging and focusing your body and mind. The 45-minute fitness classes are high energy, and are guaranteed to leave you soaked in sweat this January. 365 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, 617-578-8663; 30 Newbury St.; 30 Waltham St., Lexington; 89 Central St., Wellesley
Who doesn’t want to get their sweat on while meeting fabulous new friends? Head to Xtend Barre on Newbury Street on January 19 at 7:30 for a free class and a post workout cheers with Bumble Rose. Just have the Bumbblebff app to gain entry to the class. 338 Newbury St., 2nd floor
Heather White’s yoga class takes the deep movement of normal vinyasa and adds her upbeat “trill” signatures moves to this class for an energetic and restorative practice. She offers the class throughout the week so try something new this winter. 52 Province St., Suite 307
A chance to work out while someone watches your little one? Sign us up. Recycle Studio owner Cate Brinch had this idea after she had her own baby and now offers a class on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday that helps moms get in a workout. The class is their signature Reboot Ride, but parents have the chance to bring their child to the studio with them and have them watched by Summer Sitters while they spin. 18 Union Park Sq, 617-366-9670
