Get ready to pop that bubbly and uncork those dream vinos… the 21st Nantucket Wine Festival is slated for May 17-21! And with so many collaborative events and a serious influx of new on the island… Miss blACKbook of Nantucket blACKbook has a handful of buzz words to keep you in the buzzed up loop this weekend.
Holly Finigan of Nantucket blACKbook.
LOLA 41 (AND LOLA 42!)
Island gem LoLa 41 opens annually for a special extended lunch on Friday and Saturday of Wine Festival Weekend. You can get your espresso martini and LoLa Burger with truffle fries to coat the stomach and get you ready for getting into the spirit. LoLa doubles as the perfect first stop when you are coming or going from The Grand Tasting. PS… for you Boston folks who are anxiously awaiting your own LoLa… LoLa 42 is slated to opens its doors on the Seaport this week.
This new seafood and wine bar opened up last week and is a sexy new spot for intimate conversations, a great glass of white burgundy and some super fresh fish. The downtown bistro is the sister restaurant to Galley Beach and if you look close, you’ll see some creative crossover in the design, especially in the wallpaper. Take note... Afterhouse also has the coolest bathroom I’ve seen on this island. From the palm walls to the luxe decor to the fact that it has its own soundtrack playing, it’s just as chic and curated as the bar and the menu!
NANTUCKET VINEYARD & NANTUCKET WINE & SPIRITS CHARDONNAY
Now here’s a hand-picked island collaboration! Alanna Lucas of Nantucket Wine & Spirits teamed up with Nantucket Vineyard this past fall for a special tasting through their barrels of chardonnay. She hand-selected her favorite one, which she found to have a more restrained quality than your standard new world Chardonnay, a perfect balance between tropical fruit, oak, and minerality. Together they created a special bottle and label just for their island wine store with this island vineyard! Attending the Grand Tasting? Pop by the table of our favorite mother/daughter duo as Mary Walsh and Alanna give out tastes of their delicious local white wine for yourself! PS… it pairs perfectly with a clambake!
ROSÉ ALL NIGHT
And the one party you just HAVE to make sure is on your wine fest calendar? Join the blACKbook crew and Chateau D'Esclans Whispering Angel for the one and only Rosé fueled dueling DJ bash at The Chicken Box! Whispering Angel is bringing with them everyone's favorite blush wine, as well as their special guest DJ, Nicole Rosé. (DJ Rosé can be heard regularly at Saks Fifth Avenue, Gilt Groupe, Samsung and W Hotels and annually at Art Basel and Coachella!) And to really take it up a notch, we’ll be pairing her with the BOX's notorious Monday Dueling DJ party starter, LAZYBOY, for the ultimate Rosé All Night dueling DJ dance party that you don't want to miss! BONUS: NO COVER and there will be some seriously cool blACKbook swag launched that night, too!
Another hot new restaurant is opening its beach front doors this week! Sandbar at Jetties Beach is going to be a great place for families and friends looking to keep their feet in the sand while they snack on raw bar and sip on some frosé! And on Friday night of Wine Fest, Ripe Life is teaming up with Palm Bay and Boston’s favorite Loco Taqueria and Oyster Bar for a rosé, taco, and tequila party from 6-10 p.m. at Sandbar. This is the TGIF hot spot to toast to the weekend in my blACKbook!
Beloved Boston television personality Jenny Johnson is taking her bubbles bACK to the island for a special morning toast! On May 18, from 9-10:30 a.m., join Johnson and local yogi Ieva Aldins as they come together for BUBBLES & BALANCE, a yoga class at the Dreamland. Get your stretch on before the craziness of the weekend really kicks off and treat yourself after with a glass of Champy and some sweet treats from the new 45 Surfside bakery and cafe. Tickets are $25 and can be found here.
