When summer nights are too beautiful to spend indoors at a theater, check out one of Boston's many outdoor movie venues. From the harbor to the Prudential Center, Bostonians can watch free flicks like Fever Pitch and Rogue One under the stars all summer long.
In its 31st year, WBZ Radio is hosting free film showings at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade every Friday. The showings include Sing, The Jungle Book, LEGO Batman, Dr. Strange, and Star Wars Rogue One—perfect for both family and date nights. For film screenings with a sea breeze, the Boston Harbor Hotel is holding outdoor movie nights as a part of their Summer in the City series. Boston Harbor’s viewings will include every thing from animated favorites like The Little Mermaid and The Jungle Book to classics like Casablanca and Tootsie. Indie films with beer and wine can be enjoyed on three nights this summer at the Museum of Fine Arts on the Huntington Avenue lawn. Throughout the summer, the venue will host showings of Divorce, French Style, Cool Hand Luke starring Paul Newman, and this year’s thriller, Get Out. Across numerous Boston parks, from Roslindale to Charlestown, Mayor Marty Walsh is hosting an outdoor movie series. Showings will begin at dusk and include favorites like E.T. and Top Gun as well as current animations like Moana and Storks. Multiple Locations
The Prudential is hosting a family film festival all summer long in their South Garden with children’s activities, giveaways, and entertainment before showings begin.
