“Over the knee boots began gracing the city streets last fall, and they'll be even bigger this season. This is great for so many reasons. They look good with everything! Try pairing them with a mini and an oversized sweater, over skinny jeans and a blousy top, or underneath a midi skirt and structured coat. Over the knee means more coverage during blustery days–always a plus!
[Another fall trend will be] inspired suiting. Bostonians are attracted to classic cuts and shapes, in modern fabrics and prints. This is perfect for all of the modern houndstooth and herringbone seen on runways like Marc Jacobs, Max Mara, and Michael Kors. Try this trend by pairing a black and white houndstooth skirt with a bright blouse, or throw on a long, tailored, herringbone coat over jeans and a white button up.”
“Fashion is like a revolving door – replacing the dated and over exposed with recycled and modified equivalents years later. I like to save one or two statement pieces from any given year because more than likely, the style will trend again. This fall, the suave styles of the ‘70s are taking center stage with flares, fur, and fringe. Flares (both floor-length bell bottoms and culottes) also had a huge moment 10 to 15 years ago. I own a few designer pairs from that decade and plan to revive them this season.”
“For fall, I’m excited to incorporate some key trends into my wardrobe like ankle booties, a chic sweater dress, and, of course, some fringe. I’m also really excited to try the pointy lace-up flat trend. They are a step up from the classic ballet flat.”
“While the temperature may be cooling down, fall footwear is heating up and, this season, it’s all about the midi boot. Whether you decide to keep things sleek in a suede pair or live on the wild side with calfskin or python, these beauties will slide easily under fall’s flouncy hems and trousers alike.”
“This year's trends seem to be tailor made for a new mom like myself. I plan to indulge in high-waisted everything: from tailored, wide leg pants, to boho inspired flared jeans and maybe even a pair of overalls in between (yes, I am returning to them, even as a child of the ‘90s).”
